Deputy Political Editor of The Sunday Telegraph
Passionate is not a word I would use to describe just anyone, but Linda Jones certainly does bring passion to everything she does.
I was privileged to work in a junior capacity to Linda when we were both journalists on The Worcester Evening News, and learnt much of what I still use today from watching her operate: her nose for a story, her 100% dedication to the job, her passion for presenting the end product properly.
People with real journalistic experience are hard to find these days in the overpopulated world of PR and media relations, where it is often hard to see the wood for the trees. But Linda is the genuine article.
I'm certainly very grateful to her!
Head of news, Express & Star (until summer 2002, now planning editor BBC Midlands
I would happily recommend Linda Jones to you.
Linda was a colleague of mine at the Express & Star and I was always very impressed by her efforts.
She worked on my news desk at the head office of the Express & Star for several months in 1998 before her maternity leave began.
Linda was always calm under pressure, always comfortably met her deadlines, and was fun to work with too.
Before joining the news desk, Linda was a reporter at our Sandwell office, and I was always impressed by the quality of her copy. It was always crisp, bright and accurate.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in re-employing Linda full time at the Express & Star.

Linda shows an aptitude for being able to sort out the ‘wheat from the chaff’ for stories that would be suitable for national media coverage.
It is not a quality often demonstrated in the PR industry - despite being a media linked industry and it can be extremely frustrating being repeatedly offered supposedly suitable stories that haven’t a chance in being published.
Yet Linda is able to do this extremely competently and she is a pleasure to work with. She knows exactly what will be suitable for the range of national press and women’s magazines available in the UK.
She quickly and efficiently provides contact numbers and relevant addresses and the whole piece can then be put together in the sort of time frame that is required from the national press.
I deal with many PR contacts and I can honestly say she is one of, if not the best that I have ever come across.
Managing Editor, St Petersburg Press
Linda Jones worked on the St Petersburg Press newspaper from June 1994-June 1995.
Her work during that time, first as deputy editor, and then as editor has been first rate.
Her journalistic ability is beyond reproach. She is fast, accurate, and has a born journalist's approach to news sense, interviewing and writing.
Linda writes it straight when that is required, but can turn a great phrase when that is appropriate.
When she took over as editor it became apparent that she also has a talent for organisational and managerial work. The newsroom instantly became more efficient.
She pushed through structural changes required by the paper's management, while at the same time generated initiatives of her own that made the newsroom staff more productive.
As editor, she has been in sole charge of the editorial content of the St Petersburg press and responsible for supervising up to 10 people, including journalists, photographers and layout staff.
Tasks have included the generation of story ideas, allocating of assignments and the selection and purchase of freelance material to a budget.
Much of the time these tasks have required her working in a second language.
Linda has a sharp mind and is not afraid of making tough decisions.
It is a testament to her journalistic, managerial and personal skills and her hard work, that the St Petersburg Press is a better newspaper at the end of her year with it.

I worked with Linda Jones on a Midlands newspaper where she was the news editor. Linda made tough decisions based on sound journalistic judgment.
I have told her more than once she is the best news editor I have worked with.
She was a respected news editor and if she affords her PR clients the same amount of dedication then her company is bound to fly. When I needed someone to produce an in-depth report on the PR scene in the West Midlands I had no hesitation in contacting Linda and she did not let me down.
