She has worked as news editor on several regional evening titles and been editor of two publications in Russia. She was chief reporter at the Sunday Sun in Newcastle upon Tyne and has also specialised in business writing. She has worked for a number of newspapers in the North East, particularly the Star group, based in Washington, as well as holding positions on weekly papers in Gateshead, South Manchester and West Yorkshire.
She then relocated to the Midlands and spent nine years working for the Express & Star - based in two regional offices before becoming chief reporter at the head office in Wolverhampton. Her assignments took her as far afield as the US, and her achievements were as diverse as an exclusive interview with the Midlands backpacker who escaped a notorious serial killer in Australia, features on celebrities, TV and film reviews and sports reporting.
